Two to three hours on site for a Complete inspection, including a road test and a live charging session. Essential takes around 90 minutes. We book a time window, not a vague "sometime today" — and we call you if we're running late.

Yes. We read the pack directly with EV-specific diagnostic equipment — usable capacity against original, cell voltage spread, temperature history and charge cycle count — then compare it against what that model should look like at that age and odometer. That's a measurement, not the dashboard estimate the seller shows you.

All mainstream EVs and plug-in hybrids sold in Australia — Tesla, BYD, Polestar, Hyundai, Kia, MG, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Volkswagen, GWM and more. If your car is unusual (a grey import, a low-volume European, an early Leaf), tell us the model when you book and we'll confirm what we can and can't read before taking payment.

Every day. Dealers and private sellers are both used to it — we contact them, arrange access and confirm they can supply a charger for the charge test. You don't need to be there, though you're welcome to be. If a seller refuses an independent inspection, that itself is information worth having.

Essential is $349 and Complete is $479, both including GST and mobile call-out anywhere in our five service areas. Dealer and fleet work is quoted on application, with volume pricing from five vehicles. Full detail is on the packages page, and the maths behind the price is in our cost guide.

Then the inspection just paid for itself. You get a costed defect list you can forward straight to the seller, and a call to talk through what's a bargaining chip versus what's a reason to walk. Plenty of our customers walk away — that's a good outcome too.

Always — a PDF with battery data, photographs of every defect, road test notes and repair estimates, emailed within 24 hours of the inspection. It's yours to share with the seller, your mechanic, your finance broker or your insurer.

For the live charge test, yes. We ask the seller for access to AC power, carry portable charging equipment, and use nearby public DC chargers where they're available. Anything we couldn't test on the day is stated plainly in the report rather than quietly skipped.

Yes — it is one of the most common reasons people book us. We inspect the car where it sits in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, send the report, and ring you to talk it through before you commit to transport or payment.

Never. No referral fees from dealers, no commissions from repairers, no upsell to fix what we found. Your inspection fee is our only income, which is the only way a report like this can be worth reading.

EV Inspection is a booking service. We take your booking, match it to a professional mechanic who specialises in electric vehicles, arrange access with the seller and deliver the report to you. The inspection itself is carried out by that mechanic, who operates under their own licensing and their own insurance. We vet every mechanic before they join the panel, and if you would like the licensing or insurance details for the person attending your booking, ask and we will provide them. Full detail is in our Terms of service.

Question we haven't covered?

Ask us before you book. We'd rather talk you out of the wrong inspection than sell you one.
