Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website or book an inspection, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it.
Last updated 2 August 2026
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to Troy Overend, sole trader, trading as EV Inspection, of Sand Street, Ormiston, Queensland 4160. ABN 65 425 450 090. It covers this website and the booking service we operate.
It does not cover how an independent Mechanic handles your information after we introduce you. Mechanics are separate businesses with their own privacy obligations and, where applicable, their own privacy policies.
2. What we collect
We only collect what we need to arrange and deliver an inspection.
- Contact details — your name, phone number and email address.
- Booking details — the vehicle make, model, year and variant; odometer reading; the listing you are looking at; whether the seller is private or a dealer; the suburb and service area; your preferred date and urgency; and the package you select.
- Seller or vehicle location details — the address where the vehicle is, and the seller's contact details where you provide them so that access can be arranged.
- Anything you write to us — notes on a booking form, emails, and messages sent through the contact form.
- Technical information — standard web server and analytics data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring page.
3. How we collect it
Directly from you, in almost every case: through the booking form, the contact form, by email, or over the phone. Technical information is collected automatically when you visit the site.
We may also receive information about you from a Mechanic in the course of completing your booking, or from a seller or dealer where they are arranging access.
4. Why we collect it
We use personal information to:
- take, confirm and manage your booking;
- match your booking to a suitable Mechanic and pass on the details they need to attend;
- contact the seller or dealer to arrange access to the vehicle;
- deliver your report and follow up with the debrief call;
- take payment and keep the records we are required to keep;
- respond to enquiries, complaints and requests;
- improve the website and understand which pages people find useful.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only where it is needed to deliver the service:
- The Mechanic assigned to your booking — your name and contact details, the vehicle details, and the location, so they can attend and report.
- The seller or dealer — enough to arrange access, which usually means a first name and a contact number for the attending Mechanic.
- Service providers — the businesses that host this website, send our email, process payments, and provide website analytics (Google Analytics, see section 8), acting on our instructions.
- Where the law requires it — to a court, regulator or law enforcement body where we are legally obliged to disclose.
6. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers — website hosting, email delivery and analytics — may store data on servers outside Australia. Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC on servers in the United States and other countries where Google operates. Where information is held overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls on our systems and encrypted connections to this website.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will act in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
We keep booking records for as long as we need them for the purpose they were collected and for any period required by law, then destroy or de-identify them.
8. Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies to keep it working properly and to understand how it is used. We use Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
We do not use cookies to identify you personally, and we do not combine analytics data with your booking details.
9. Access and correction
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Write to bookings@evinspection.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable period.
We may need to verify your identity first. If we refuse a request we will tell you why in writing.
10. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first — most issues are resolved quickly that way. Email bookings@evinspection.com.au with the details.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
