Terms of service

These terms govern your use of this website and any booking you make through it. Please read them before you book — by making a booking you agree to them.

Last updated 2 August 2026

Please read section 2 first. EV Inspection is a booking agency. We connect you with an independent mechanic who specialises in electric vehicles; we do not carry out the inspection ourselves.

1. Who we are

In these terms, "EV Inspection", "we", "us" and "our" mean Troy Overend, sole trader, trading as EV Inspection, of Sand Street, Ormiston, Queensland 4160, Australia. ABN 65 425 450 090.

"You" means the person making a booking or using this website. "Mechanic" means the independent inspector or workshop we connect you with. "Inspection" means the pre-purchase or battery inspection carried out by that Mechanic.

2. Our role — please read carefully

EV Inspection operates as a booking agency. We connect electric vehicle buyers, sellers, dealers and professional mechanics who specialise in electric vehicles. We take your booking, match it to a suitable Mechanic, coordinate access with the vehicle's owner or seller, and pass the resulting report to you.

We do not perform inspections. The Inspection is performed by an independent Mechanic who is not our employee. That Mechanic is solely responsible for the conduct of the Inspection, for the findings and opinions in the report, and for any work they carry out on or around the vehicle.

The contract for the Inspection itself is between you and the Mechanic. Our contract with you is limited to arranging the booking and facilitating payment and delivery of the report.

3. About the mechanics

We vet the Mechanics on our panel before we work with them. Vetting is a screening process, not a guarantee of outcome.

  • Each Mechanic operates under their own licensing, registration and insurance, and is responsible for keeping those current.
  • Each Mechanic is an independent contractor or independent business. They are not our employees, partners or agents.
  • We ask each Mechanic to confirm their qualifications, licensing and insurance position before we refer work to them.
  • If you would like the licensing or insurance details of the Mechanic assigned to your booking, ask us and we will request them.
  • We do not control how a Mechanic exercises their professional judgement, and we do not review or alter their findings.

4. Bookings

A booking is a request until we confirm it. We will confirm by email or phone once a Mechanic and a time have been secured. Availability, lead times and service areas shown on this website are indicative and are not a guarantee that a particular time or location can be met.

You are responsible for giving us accurate details — the vehicle, its location, the seller's contact details and any access restrictions. If details are wrong or access cannot be obtained, the Inspection may not be able to proceed.

You warrant that you have the right to arrange an Inspection of the vehicle, or that the owner has consented to it. We and the Mechanic rely on that.

5. Prices and payment

Prices shown on this website are in Australian dollars and include GST unless stated otherwise. Prices may change, but the price we confirm at the time of booking is the price that applies to that booking.

Payment must be made in full at the time of booking confirmation, by credit card or bank transfer to “Troy Overend - Sole Trader” trading as “EV Inspection”. Any surcharge for a payment method will be disclosed before you pay.

Where a booking requires travel outside our published service areas, or involves additional costs such as ferry access, we will quote that separately and get your agreement before proceeding.

6. Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds

Our cancellation and refund terms are set out in full on the Cancellations and refunds page, which forms part of these terms.

7. The inspection report

The report reflects the condition of the vehicle as observed by the Mechanic at the time and place of the Inspection, using the equipment and access available on the day. It is not a warranty, a guarantee, a roadworthy certificate, or a statement that the vehicle is free of defects.

Inspections are non-invasive. The Mechanic does not dismantle the vehicle, remove trim or panels, open the high-voltage battery enclosure, or road test beyond what is reasonable and lawful. Faults that are intermittent, concealed, or that only present under conditions not encountered on the day may not be detected.

The limits of what an Inspection can establish are described further on the Disclaimer page.

The report is prepared for you and for your use in deciding whether to proceed with a purchase. You may share it with the seller or your advisers. It should not be republished, resold, or relied on by any other person as though it were prepared for them.

8. Your responsibilities

To get the most out of an Inspection, and so that it can proceed safely and lawfully, you agree to:

  • provide accurate vehicle, seller and location information;
  • not ask us or the Mechanic to do anything unlawful, unsafe, or without the vehicle owner's consent;
  • make your own decision about whether to buy the vehicle — the report is information, not advice to purchase;
  • raise any concern about an Inspection or a report with us promptly, so it can be looked into while the evidence is fresh.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, we do so as set out below.

Because we act as a booking agency, we are not liable for the professional conduct, findings, opinions, acts or omissions of a Mechanic, or for any loss arising from them. Claims of that nature are properly directed to the Mechanic, who carries their own insurance for that purpose. We will assist you in making contact with them.

To the extent permitted by law, our liability arising from our own services is limited to re-supplying those services or refunding the amount you paid us for the booking in question.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or the cost of a vehicle purchase you chose to make or not make.

10. Intellectual property

The content of this website — text, layout, graphics and photographs — belongs to us or is used with permission, and may not be copied or republished without our written consent. Vehicle makes and model names are the trade marks of their respective owners and are used here for identification and description only. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any vehicle manufacturer.

11. Privacy

We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you make a booking is the version that applies to that booking. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State.
