Buying an EV in Melbourne?
A temperate climate is genuinely kind to a lithium pack. A Melbourne car of the same age and kilometres will usually read a point or two better than a Brisbane one. That is an average, though, not a guarantee — and it says nothing about a car that spent its first three years in Queensland before being trucked south. We check where the car has actually lived, then measure what that did to it.
Melbourne also carries the heaviest concentration of ex-novated-lease and ex-demonstrator EVs in the country, clustered around the dealer belts on the Nepean Highway, at Ringwood and out through Essendon. Those cars are often well maintained and hard used at the same time — a good buy at the right price, once you know which one is in front of you.
And this is the one city where hail is a standing question. Melbourne's storm seasons have written off a lot of panels, and repaired hail damage hides well under fresh paint. It does not hide from a paint depth gauge, which is part of every inspection we run here.

Every inspection is fully mobile. Not on the list? If it's in Greater Melbourne or Geelong we'll be there — and we regularly travel beyond it for the right job.
By model
What we look for on the cars selling in Melbourne.
Every platform has its own weak points, its own battery chemistry and its own diagnostic protocol. Pick the car you're looking at and see the known faults, variant differences and battery notes before you go and see it.
Whatever the badge, the pack gets the same treatment — see how we test state of health, what degradation is normal and whether the warranty transfers.
What you get
The same inspection, wherever the car is.
Battery measured
State of health, cell balance and realistic range — read off the pack, not the dash.
High-voltage safety
Isolation testing, contactors and cabling, plus evidence of past HV repair work.
Charging tested live
AC and DC sessions where a charger is available, including taper behaviour.
Report in 24 hours
Photos, costed defects and a plain-English verdict, then a call to talk it through.

Buying your first EV? Start with the battery health guide and the used EV checklist.
Do you charge extra to come to my part of Melbourne?
No. Greater Melbourne is covered with no call-out fee, and Geelong is included in that. The package price is the whole price.
Do Melbourne EVs really have healthier batteries?
On average, yes — heat is the main driver of degradation and Melbourne has less of it than the northern markets. But averages do not buy cars. We measure the pack in front of us and check whether it has spent its whole life down here.
Can you test DC fast charging in Melbourne?
Yes. There is enough public DC infrastructure around the metro to run a genuine fast-charge session as part of a Complete inspection, and the report says exactly where it was tested and at what rate.
Do you inspect at Melbourne dealerships?
Yes. The dealer belts along the Nepean Highway, through Ringwood and out past Essendon see independent inspections regularly, and we arrange the access ourselves. You do not need to attend.
Do you check for hail damage?
Yes, on every Melbourne inspection. We run a paint depth gauge across the panels and roof. Repaired hail is the most commonly undisclosed history on cars sold here, and fresh paint hides it from the eye but not from the gauge.
Do you cover Geelong?
Yes. Geelong and the Surf Coast sit inside our Melbourne service area, with no call-out fee and the same package pricing.
