Buying an EV in the city?
Nearly every city inspection happens underground. Basement parking is genuinely kind to a battery — no sun, stable temperature, none of the heat cycling that ages a pack on an open driveway — but it means we need a booked access window and a bay with room to work. We arrange that with the seller or building management beforehand.
Home charging is the exception here rather than the rule. Plenty of buildings still have no EV provision at all, so city cars live on public AC and DC. That is not automatically a problem, and it affects some chemistries far more than others, but it should be measured rather than assumed either way.
Tram lines and tight streets leave their mark. Kerb rash, low-speed knocks and door damage are common on inner-city cars, and every one of them is negotiable once it is costed and photographed in a report.

Every inspection is fully mobile — we come to the car. Anywhere else in the city or inner south, just ask — there is no call-out fee inside the area.
What we see here
Three things city cars bring with them.
Basement logistics
Booked access, a workable bay and light to see by. We organise it so the day actually runs.
No home charging
Public AC and DC only, in most buildings. We measure what that diet has done to the pack.
Low-speed damage
Tram lines, tight streets and kerbs. Costed and photographed so you negotiate with numbers.

Can you inspect a car in an apartment basement?
Yes — it is where most of our city inspections happen. We need access arranged with the seller or building management and enough clearance to work safely around the car. If the bay is too tight, we ask for it to be brought up to street level for an hour.
Is a city car that never charges at home a worse buy?
Not automatically. Frequent DC charging accelerates degradation on some chemistries and barely affects others — LFP packs in particular tolerate it well. We measure this pack rather than applying a rule of thumb.
Do I need to be there?
No, and most city clients are not. We deal with the seller directly, inspect the car, send the written report inside 24 hours and then call you to talk it through.
Do you cover Docklands, Southbank and South Yarra?
Yes. The full suburb list is above, and everywhere else in the CBD and inner south is covered with no call-out fee.
