Buying an EV in the east?
Home charging is close to universal out here, and cars are usually garaged and family-owned rather than fleet. Packs test well as a rule, and long single-owner ownership means the service history tends to be real. It is the easiest part of Melbourne to buy a good used EV in — which is exactly why the asking prices hold.
It is also the heart of Melbourne’s hail belt. The 2020 storms went through these suburbs hard, and a lot of panels have been replaced or repaired since. Good repairs are perfectly acceptable; undisclosed ones affect resale and sometimes water sealing. We run a paint depth gauge across every panel and the roof.
The dealer clusters at Ringwood, Nunawading and along Whitehorse Road move a lot of metal. We inspect on the forecourt regularly, book the access ourselves, and you do not need to be there while we do it.

Do you check for hail damage?
Yes, on every Melbourne inspection and with particular attention in the eastern suburbs. We run a paint depth gauge across the panels and roof. Repaired hail is not necessarily a reason to walk away, but it should be disclosed and reflected in the price.
Do you inspect at Ringwood and Nunawading dealerships?
Yes, regularly. We arrange the access ourselves and inspect on the forecourt. If a dealer refuses an independent inspection, that refusal is information worth having.
Do you cover Glen Waverley and Doncaster?
Yes. The full suburb list is above, and anywhere else in the eastern suburbs is covered with no call-out fee.
Is a garaged, home-charged car always better?
It is a genuinely good sign — slow AC charging and covered parking are the two kindest things you can do to a pack. It is not a guarantee though, and we still measure state of health and cell balance rather than reading the car’s postcode.
