Local knowledge

Buying an ex-lease EV around Ryde?

Novated lease cars are the local staple. They are usually serviced on schedule because the lease required it, and they are usually driven hard because the fuel — or in this case the charging — was somebody else’s problem. Both things are true at once, and the service book only tells you the first half.

They also come off lease in waves, which is why you will see four near-identical listings in a week. That is leverage: with a costed defect list in hand you are not negotiating against scarcity. We inspect on the forecourt or at a private seller’s address, whichever the car is sitting at.

The last question on any ex-lease car is the warranty. Battery and vehicle warranties do not always transfer cleanly to a second owner, and the balance left in years and kilometres is worth real money. We confirm the position in writing rather than repeating what the ad claims.

What we see here

What an ex-lease car does not tell you.

Workload

Serviced on schedule and driven hard are not opposites. Charge counts and pack data show the second half of the story.

Warranty transfer

Battery and vehicle cover do not always carry to a second owner. We confirm what is actually left for you.

Batch listings

Lease returns arrive together. A costed report turns four similar cars into real negotiating leverage.

New to EVs? Start with the battery health guide and the used EV checklist.

Are ex-novated-lease EVs a good buy?

Frequently, yes. They are usually serviced on schedule and priced well under an equivalent private sale. The two things to establish are how hard the car actually worked and whether the balance of the battery warranty transfers to you — both are in our report.

Does the battery warranty transfer to me?

Usually, but not always, and the terms differ by manufacturer. We check the car’s build date, in-service date and kilometres against the manufacturer’s terms and state the remaining position plainly rather than repeating the seller’s claim.

Do you cover Epping, Eastwood and Carlingford?

Yes. The full suburb list is above, and anywhere else around Ryde and Macquarie Park is covered with no call-out fee.

Can you inspect several cars for me?

Yes, and it is common with lease-return batches. Book them together and we will sequence them in one run where the locations allow, then send you the reports side by side.
