Buying an EV around St George?
The apartment towers changed the local EV picture. Cars kept in strata basements never see sun — good for the pack — but almost none of them have a home charger, so they live on public DC. A street away, a garaged car on a house block has charged slowly at home its whole life. Both turn up in the same search results.
Down at Brighton-Le-Sands, Sans Souci and Ramsgate the bay adds salt. Corrosion around fasteners, subframe mounts and high-voltage connector housings is worth finding early on any car parked near the water, because on an EV that last one is a safety item.
The area also sits under the flight path, which means nothing for the battery and quite a lot for how long a car has been sitting outside. Where a car lives changes what we look for; we ask, and then we check whether the answer holds up.

Can you inspect a car in a strata basement?
Yes, and it is routine around Hurstville and Kogarah. We need access booked with the seller or building management and a bay with enough room to work safely. If it is too tight we ask for the car to be brought to street level.
Is a car that only fast charges a worse buy?
Not automatically. Frequent DC charging accelerates degradation on some chemistries and barely affects others, and LFP packs in particular tolerate it well. We measure what has actually happened to this pack rather than applying a rule of thumb.
